Jan Klostermann

Jan Klostermann is a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Cologne, Chair in Marketing Science and Analytics since March 2022. Jan studied business administration and economics at the Bielefeld University. During his studies, he gained practical experience through internships in leading service and market research companies. He received his doctoral degree from the Bielefeld University in 2022, which was graded summa cum laude and received the Best Doctoral Thesis Award from the Bielefeld University Society. His research has been published in renowned journals such as the International Journal of Research in Marketing and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. In his research, he investigates how brands and consumers affect each other through their bidirectional digital communication on social media and how brands can extract marketing-relevant information from these conversations. He analyses unstructured textual and visual user-generated content from social networks and online review platforms using methods of natural language processing and computer vision.
